Formerly known as National Association of Retail Credit Agencies, became the National Association of Mercantile Agencies in 1908 and the Associated Credit Bureaus of America in 1937 and adopted its present name in the year 2000. CDIA’s mission is to ensure that consumer data can be collected, maintained, and used by third parties in responsible ways by U.S. businesses to help them manage risk, create fair markets for consumers, and to increase business competition. Its consumer reporting offices dues is a tiered structure and is based on net revenue and the calculation of membership dues for the Collection Service Division is based on trade area population.
