Founded as American Film Marketing Association; became AFMA in 1997 and assumed its current name in 2004. IFTA is the global trade association for the independent motion picture and television industry, and the voice of advocate for independents worldwide. Its purpose is to protect and strengthen its member's ability to finance, produce, distribute, market and distribute independent films and television programs in an ever-changing and challenging global marketplace.
