Established in 1966 as the National Association of County Development Coordinators to satisfy the need for a greater exchange of ideas in coordinating federal and state aid programs at the county level; became (1975) National Association of Counties Council of Intergovernmental Coordinators; assumed current name in 1991. An affiliate of the National Association of Counties.
