Communications Workers of America
Formerly (1947) National Federation of Telephone Workers. Joined the Congress of Industrial Organizations in 1949 and merged with Telephone Workers Organizing Committee. Communications Workers of America holds national affiliation with AFL-CIO. Absorbed International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried Machine and Furniture Workers in 2001. CWA's mission is to improve the standard of living for its current and future members and to educate members to vote in their own interests and to build community coalitions at the national and local levels to support workers' rights.
