Formed by the merger of the American Association of Group Workers, the American Association of Medical Social Workers, the American Association of Psychiatric Social Workers, the American Association of Social Workers, Association for the Study of Community Organization, the National Association of School Social Workers and the Social Work Research Group. NASW's mission is to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.
